Jurassic Lake Lodge was the first dedicated fishing program developed on Strobel Lake. Over the years, our registered brand name "Jurassic Lake" has become so well known internationally that many people mistakenly believe it is the actual name of the lake. But don’t be confused—not everything is the same. When you think of Jurassic Lake, you’re thinking of the unmatched fishing, record-breaking trout, and legendary experiences that happen within the exclusive waters surrounding our lodge.
Our lodge is strategically positioned near the mouth of the Barrancoso River, in a protected bay of Strobel Lake. As the lake’s only major tributary, the Barrancoso sustains a rich food supply, drawing huge trout throughout the entire season. From the lodge, it’s just a short walk or a brief drive to some of the best rainbow trout fishing on the planet. Our catch rates and the size of our fish remain unmatched.
With private access to the majority of the Barrancoso River and the most productive shoreline waters of Strobel Lake, our guests rotate through these premier beats without competition for space.
Our newly remodeled and comfortable lodge, a private airstrip for chartered flights, exceptional food, drinks, and hospitality, and a team of hard-working, skilled guides all contribute to making the Jurassic Lake Lodge experience truly unforgettable. Direct charter flight from El Calafate
Getting to Jurassic Lake Lodge has never been easier. Every Saturday morning our exclusive charter service departs from El Calafate. The flight to our private airstrip at the Lodge only takes an hour. There are several flights daily between Buenos Aires and El Calafate.
Private charter flight
If the regular Saturday flight from El Calafate doesn’t fit your itinerary, it is easy to make other arrangements. Every season since we built our airstrip, we’ve helped anglers fishing in Bariloche, Esquel, Tierra del Fuego or anywhere else in Patagonia, arrange private charter flights to and from the Lodge.
Ground transfer from El Calafate
If the chartered flights don’t work for your schedule, ground transportation to the Lodge from the city of El Calafate is included in all packages. In fact, for many years, it was the only way in and out of the Lodge! The drive takes about six hours. There are several flights joining Buenos Aires and El Calafate every day. It is also possible to make custom driving arrangements from any other location in Patagonia if that is required.
