Fishing Program

At Jurassic Lake Lodge, all fishing is done while wading or standing on the bank, offering an immersive and rewarding experience. Our waters hold some of the largest rainbow trout in the world, and we provide anglers with exclusive access to the most productive beats in the entire watershed. Typically, a single guide will spend the day with a group of two or three anglers, depending on which beat is being fished.

Daily Fishing Rotation – Main Beats

Our main fishing rotation is centered around the most productive beats, all located close to the lodge:

  • Right of the Mouth – A prime section of shoreline offering consistent action and big fish.

  • Left of the Mouth – Another legendary spot where the Barrancoso River feeds Strobel Lake, attracting massive trout.

  • Bay of Pigs – Known for its steady fishing and trophy-sized rainbow trout.

  • Lower Section of the Barrancoso River – A short walk from the lodge, offering exceptional river fishing with incredible sight-fishing opportunities.

Each day, anglers fish in morning or afternoon sessions, rotating between these beats to experience the best fishing conditions.

Explore More Waters – Customize Your Fishing Experience

While the four main beats form the core of our rotation, anglers are welcome to explore additional waters on our property, including:

  • The Mid & Upper Sections of the Barrancoso River – Remote and untouched stretches with aggressive, hard-fighting trout.

  • Other Bays of Strobel Lake – Hidden gems offering a variety of fishing conditions and challenges.

  • Moro Creek & Surrounding Lagoons – A high-water season favorite, perfect for dry-fly fishing.

Our expert guides will help you find the best waters each day based on conditions and your preferences. Whether you follow the main rotation or choose to venture into remote waters, you have the flexibility to create your own custom fishing program.

Gear & Tackle Recommendations

Throughout the season, and depending on the waters being fished, we use a variety of single- and double-hand rods with different fly selections. Detailed recommendations on tackle, clothing, and essential gear can be found further down this page.
